UP TOO LATE
Watch me
fly.
Watch me
shiver.
Watch me
lose love,
now an inch,
then a foot.
Until the door
closes forever.

In Broad Daylight
The boy
who heard me read
at the Fringe Club
called after midnight.
He asked to live here
for two months
while he prepares for O-levels.
How's that for hutspa,
the power of the word,
or the wit of police?
Instead,
at the campus canteen
he stumbled
through a simple text
all through our lunch.
Most lonely people
keep ourselves that way.

Our Love
By Erin Cook
My heart yearns for your love
My body aches for your touch
There is talk from the skies above
About how I need you so much
I remember that feeling
when we first met
when our hearts were meeting
For the first time
The love that we can't forget
Your smile so sweet
Your warm hands touching mine
The feeling we had was so great
When everything stopped for a moment
Everything stopped in time
The love we had moved mountains
Made grown men weep
You were the one I counted on
Now I just watch you leave
I am lost since you are gone
Erin Cook. The poet reports: I am 31 years old. I have been writing poetry since Junior High and I also write children stories as well. I am a member of the Society of Children Writers and Illustrators.
