From Lions To Unicorns
G David Schwartz
From lions to unicorns
You know what that means
You're just eating
Your hotdogs and beans
Don't think about me
Just think about the dreams
Which I am having about
The lions to unicorns

First New
a broad expanse of purity
a smooth blanket of snowy joy
topaz and gold rising to the brim
the first notes from her pearl
strike the taut surface of ecstasy
she warms the skin and drenches my desire
strums her slender fingers on the buds of my chrysalis soul
it is a new day

Mirage
Layers of false illusion lie,
Pale clouds twist and wildly fly.
Under us, red walls glow,
Tears, cold knives, flow.
Choice now, now will return.
Hope and love shall return

COSMIC UNITY
Cosmic significance,
through the power of the elements,
contained within is unique potential,
each man allowing accordingly.
Before his own eyes,
revelation
through nature, wonders unfold
gifts from within, materialize.
Easily,
Inherent are the steps,
From one single point
Clarifying.
Through the elements
causes interpreting on earth,
creation in the course of developement,
new steps advance in the world of action.

"Somewhere a cat"
Somewhere a cat
Rubs its side against a fence.
That's sleep.
Cobwebs between doorless jambs
Are doors.
That's the moon.
Dark purple wine
Splashes down the sides
Of a lead mug.
That's the night.

The Leaf
I don't know your name
I see you walking through the sun-puddled woodlands
muttering to yourself & the feral cats
that murmur back to your hunger
you carry a book of alligator-bound elegies
written on a Norwegian cliff
or so I imagine
as I imagine your eyes are the tattoo
of a leaf catching light as it falls
spiraling as the red admiral butterfly
with so many variant wingstrokes
hawks in folds of unlight
Come let us fly!
